Les Légendaires
Les Légendaires is a radio and photographic installation, conceived as a series of portraits of a community of residents in a city.
Whilst working on the choreographic piece L’Amiral Sénès (2024), inspired by her legendary ancestor, Marion CARRIAU explored the figure of the military hero, as portrayed by military propaganda. She wondered who created these heroes and for what purpose. Defining a hero solely by their military victories or physical strength seemed far too reductive. With Les Légendaires, Benjamin DAUGERON and Marion sought to open up the debate by sharing these unresolved questions and reflections with people of all ages.
Marion Carriau, a choreographer, and Benjamin Daugeron, an artist and writer, are leading two weeks of creative workshops with residents of a care home and a primary school class. Together, they are attempting to offer different definitions of heroism. They explore desires and memories, sharing, passing on and inventing timeless, gender-neutral heroic narratives, whilst questioning where heroism resides within their bodies and how this concept influences our way of being in the world and nurtures otherness.
For each instalment of the project, we collaborate with a local photographer.
